Trees of New Jersey: In Forests and Urban Areas
May 2 @ 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Sustainable Ringwood’s Green Team invites you to a presentation on New Jersey’s trees by Alex Young, Tree Data Scientist at the University of New Hampshire, M.S. degree in Forest & Natural Resource Management from the SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry.
Using data from the USDA Forest Service’s Forest Inventory & Analysis Program, Alex will discuss the status and health of common tree species in forests and urban areas and -how to identify them. He will also review ecosystem services that trees provide in urban areas, from helping with storm runoff to improving air quality and reducing residential cooling costs. He will also identify some of the most common invasive species in New Jersey. We hope you will join us for this important presentation. Bring your questions and maybe a leaf or two from trees that you would like to identify.
